  • Meta-Analysis and Systematic Reviews in Comparative Effectiveness Research 

    Gain expertise related to systematic literature reviews and meta-analysis for comparative effectiveness research and health care decision making. This course includes details on the steps to perform a systematic literature review and will then be able to understand the statistical methods of combining extracted data by means of meta-analysis. The advantages and limitations of meta-analysis will be explained, and meta-analytic reports will be appraised which will lead to the ability to decide whether the results should be used. Understand the need for systematic literature reviews and meta-analysis for comparative effectiveness research and health care decision making.

    After the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the need for systematic literature reviews and meta-analysis for comparative effectiveness research and health care decision making.
    • Describe the steps to perform a systematic literature review and understand the statistical methods of combining extracted data by means of meta-analysis.
    • Understand the advantages and limitations of meta-analysis, appraise meta-analytic reports, and decide whether to use their results.
