Course Information

  • This course equips app developers and technical teams with the tools to incorporate real-world evidence and health technology assessment (HTA) frameworks into early-stage digital health product planning. Using the PICOTS-ComTec and CHEERS-DHI frameworks, learners will explore key principles for designing digital health technologies (DHTs) with evidence requirements in mind.

Topics include the evolving digital health landscape, why evidence matters in DHT development, how to apply the PICOTS-ComTec framework in practice, and strategies for aligning with broader HTA expectations. Learners will examine case studies, build their own PICOTS-ComTec frameworks, and gain access to practical toolkits for early planning and reporting success. Learning Objectives:

Describe the importance of evidence generation in early-stage digital health technology (DHT) development.

Explain the components of the PICOTS-ComTec framework and how it supports structured planning for digital health apps.

Apply the PICOTS-ComTec framework to a sample digital health use case.

Summarize how CHEERS-DHI guidance contributes to stronger and more consistent economic reporting in digital health evaluations.

Identify the types of information sought by HTA bodies and how early planning can align with reimbursement expectations.

Access and utilize downloadable planning tools and templates to support DHT study design and reporting.
