  • Introduction to the Economic Evaluation of Diagnostic Technologies

    Diagnostics are increasingly being recognized as key tools for public policies. Presented by the ISPOR Special Interest Group (SIG) on Medical Devices and Diagnostics Technologies, this course is a comprehensive introduction to the key relevant concepts of health economic evaluations of diagnostic technologies (HEEDx), such as definitions, diagnostic performance, and usual diagnostic-based health interventions.

    After the completion of this course participants will be able to:

    • Describe the types of diagnostic technologies and how are used for health interventions (diagnosis, prognosis, screening & monitoring).
    • Describe key concepts of diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values & ROC curves).
    • Understand the principles of modelling diagnostic-based interventions.
