Introduction to the Economic Evaluation of Diagnostic Technologies |
Diagnostics are increasingly being recognized as key tools for public policies. Presented by the ISPOR Special Interest Group (SIG) on Medical Devices and Diagnostics Technologies, this course is a comprehensive introduction to the key relevant concepts of health economic evaluations of diagnostic technologies (HEEDx), such as definitions, diagnostic performance, and usual diagnostic-based health interventions.
After the completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the types of diagnostic technologies and how are used for health interventions (diagnosis, prognosis, screening & monitoring).
- Describe key concepts of diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values & ROC curves).
- Understand the principles of modelling diagnostic-based interventions.
