  • What is Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)?

    The first microcourse in the What is HEOR? series, this course provides a basic understanding of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and how it involves a set of tools and methods used to assess outcomes or results, creating and collecting evidence to support informed healthcare decision-making.

    HEOR incorporates techniques to ensure the efficient use of resources, resulting in improved healthcare value for the dollars spent.

    In this microcourse, you will learn more about HEOR and how it is used to go beyond traditional measures like cures or extended lifespan to improve patients' quality of life.

    After the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Describe health economics and outcomes research.
    • Identify the users of HEOR and their perspectives, and describe the solutions they seek with HEOR.
    • Explain steps to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of health outcomes.
    • Define key terms used in health economics and outcomes research.

    The access period once enrolled into the course is 30 days from the date of purchase. After this duration, you will need to re-enroll if you wish to re-enter the course.
