  • Streamlining Systematic Literature Reviews With Software and AI

Systematic Literature Reviews (SLRs) are a gold standard for evidence-based research and evidence quality, providing comprehensive and unbiased analyses of existing literature. However, in today's fast-paced research landscape, there is an increasing demand for efficiency and rapid reviews. This course will provide methods and perspectives in AI approaches and SLR software solutions, that can offer researchers greater efficiency.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of AI utilization, including its capabilities and limitations, to intelligently select the most suitable software for their research needs. Additionally, the course will equip attendees with practical skills for effectively utilizing these advanced software tools to streamline and optimize the systematic literature review (SLR) process, enhancing its overall efficacy and impact.

Gain knowledge of the Cochrane stages of SLR execution, emphasizing the best practices for each stage and addressing significance, potential efficiencies, and challenges through software optimization. Learn the best practices for efficient SLRs, explore AI-driven software solutions like Nested Knowledge and PICO Portal, and discover the benefits of software-enabled effective SLR management and collaboration between researchers and review teams. Engage in interactive practice with the software and AI tools to become familiar with the functionalities of these tools, and learn practical application in real-world SLRs.

After the completion of this course participants will be able to:

    • Discuss the Cochrane stages of SLR execution, their significance and where AI can assist in the research process.
    • Discuss use cases and how to mitigate risks associated with AI in SLR.
    • Explain the best practices for conducting systematic literature reviews and their impact on research outcomes.
    • Explain the process of developing a search strategy and identifying PICOs (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) terms.
    • Explain how AI and deep learning techniques can be used for deduplication and highlight key elements in PICOs.
    • Explain the concept of active learning and how it can be utilized with AI to improve the screening relevance of studies.
    • Develop strategies for selecting appropriate tags, interventions, and data elements for inclusion in the systematic review.
    • Utilize software solutions to build a systematic review visualization and gain insights from analyzed studies.
    • Utilize knowledge of AI's potential in SLR execution to enhance future research endeavors and efficiency.
