Introduction to Implementation Science

One of the great challenges in healthcare and medicine is the gap that exists between the generation of research evidence and the uptake of evidence in routine healthcare delivery. The existence of the evidence is not enough to influence healthcare practice, in fact, this gap is sometimes described using the following statement: it takes nearly 17 years for just 14% of clinical practices and products intended to benefit patients are taken up in routine care.
